The Effects of Mental Exercise and Physical Exercise on Brain Health Physical exercise does not only promote physical appearance and the body’s health, it also promotes brain health. The brain is a dynamic organ that replaces and repairs neurons throughout life. When people engage in exercise, rarely do they think about the potential affects it has on their brain. People that work out utilize various amounts of motor skills that have been acquired gradually through practice. Those utilized motor skills elicit the brains cognitive processes and the neural substrates that allows athlete to efficiently and decisively perform physical activities. People that exercise depend on their brain to learn, memorize, and perform, physical exercise routines. Scientific studies have shown that physical fitness and mental fitness can improve brain function and brain health. Conditions such as insulin resistance, age-related cognitive issues, and depression are things exercise can alleviate. In this review I will introduce the undesirable causations of an unhea lthy life on brain health. I will also review how brain reacts to physical exercise and mental exercise.
